Donating blood is a vital way to help save lives. A single donation can save three lives. Kamal Institute of Higher Education and Advance Technology organized Blood Donation Camp on 30th August’2019 (Friday) in college auditorium in association with THE LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL.
Lions Club International non-political and non-profit service organization established in 1916 in Chicago. Lions Blood Bank, Delhi is a Non-Government, stand-alone, not-for-profit Blood Bank run by Lions Club International, established in 2008. It serves the needs of over 400 hospitals in Delhi NCR. It is based on 100% voluntary blood donation. It is one of the few blood banks in the country accredited by NABH.
The camp started with the arrival of team at 9:00AM. Then they organized their setup. The volunteers of the CSR Committee helped them. The students, teachers and all the other staff members participated to donate their blood. Firstly, it was ensured that the donor must have had proper breakfast and for those who didn’t, were provided refreshments. The donors filled a form containing all the personal and medical details, after that they went through proper health check-up, the various tests were:-
· Blood Pressure
· Hemoglobin
· Height, Weight and Age
· Any Medical condition
Only
those people were allowed to donate who were not suffering from any medical
problem and were fit to donate the blood. Not just the members of college but
the outsiders also voluntarily participated to be a part of the Noble Cause.
All the donors were provided certificates, refreshments, mugs and a donor ID
card (which will be valid for 1 year and if the donor or his family members or
friends need blood in case
of emergency, they can get the blood from the LIONS BLOOD BANK at free of
cost).
The process took more than half an hour. All the donors were given fruits, juices, biscuits and glucose. One of the doctors also addressed the donors and informed about the facts and myths related to blood donation and he also talked about the benefits of donating blood. The Blood Donation Camp continued till 4:00 PM
Overall it was a great feeling of doing something which will save someone's life and everybody who donated were the HERO for the change and we all decided to continue this noble deed in future also.
